Albert Cresswell, born in Paris, was a painter of mythological subjects, genre scenes, portraits, and landscapes.
He was a student of Louis Boulanger (1806–1867), Luc-Olivier Merson (1846–1920), and above all Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1834–1912), born in Tournan-en-Brie, professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Académie Julian, and considered one of the representatives of academic art in France.
He took part in the “Salon de Paris” from 1880 to 1929, receiving several awards, including an honorable mention in 1892 and a third medal in 1907.
