Oil on canvas depicting the portrait of a young Algerian woman from the Arredij (Arreridji) region, near Sétif, in the highlands of Little Kabylia. Signed upper right M. DUPUY (..93). Painter and portraitist, Noémie Marguerite DUPUY was born in Paris in 1850. French School. A student of Mademoiselle Houssaye and Jacquesson de la Chevreuse, she exhibited at the Salon from 1870 to 1882. Period oak frame. 53 x 45 cm with its frame
