Olier & Caron – Late 19th-century solid silver vase

A substantial solid silver vase resting on a molded circular pedestal foot, decorated with radiating fluting.
The ovoid, generously bulbous body features a smooth, polished surface, accented at its lower section by a relief-carved foliate frieze.
It extends into a long, flared neck, enlivened by deep vertical fluting that gradually widens toward the shoulder. The neck is punctuated by cascading foliage and applied botanical motifs, which originate beneath the upper rim and terminate in foliate ornaments.
At the junction of the neck and the body, clusters of leaves, flowers, and fruit in relief accentuate the shoulders and highlight the vase’s architectural lines.
The piece rests on a circular, fluted base bordered by concentric moldings.
Inspired by Neoclassicism—in the Louis XVI style—this vase is distinguished by its interplay of smooth surfaces, fluting, and finely chased botanical ornamentation. It retains its removable interior brass liner, designed to hold flowers and protect the silverware.
