Large pair of gilded and patinated bronze candelabra, from 19th century.

Pair of five-branched candelabra in chiseled and patinated bronze, attributed to Claude François Rabiat, from the First Empire period (1804–1815), 19th century.

Claude François Rabiat (1756–1815) was a bronze caster and engraver who was granted master status in 1778.

Based at 41 Rue Beaubourg in Paris, he ran a foundry and supplied the merchants André Coquille and Thémet, as well as the bronze artists Thomire, Galle, and Feuchère.

The shaft is decorated with two winged cherubs sculpted in bronze with a brown patina, depicted as winged child figures standing and holding aloft a five-branched bouquet of lights in the shape of volutes, in gilded bronze covered with finely chiseled scales, ending in saucers adorned with friezes composed of palmettes and flowers.

The base, crafted in gilded bronze, consists of a polished square plinth on which rests a cylindrical pedestal finely chiseled with flowers and covered with scales arranged in a leaf pattern, surmounted by a polished globe.
