Meissen porcelain group “Diane And Endymion”

Meissen porcelain figurine from the “Diane and Endymion” mythology series, created by Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer in 1786. Marked with crossed blue swords with a line above the crossed swords (second-choice mark) and numbered 18; 19th century; height 29 cm.
The myth of Diana and Endymion tells the story of the love between the goddess of the hunt and the moon and a strikingly handsome mortal shepherd. To keep him handsome and eternally young, she persuades Zeus to plunge him into an eternal sleep deep within a cave, where she comes to gaze upon him every night.
