Franz von Stuck (1863–1928), Nude Man

Graphic Work by Franz von Stuck (1863–1928) — an outstanding German Symbolist painter and one of the founders of the Munich Secession. This sketch is a classic example of the master's academic drawing. The work showcases a detailed and expressive rendering of a powerful male torso in a dynamic twist. The piece serves as a preparatory sketch for a centaur figure for one of the artist's most renowned large-scale paintings — "The Battle of the Centaurs" (1894), the original of which is currently held in the collection of the Städel Museum.Signature: Signed lower right with the artist's characteristic block-letter signature — F. STVCK.Documents: Accompanied by an official certificate of authenticity.
