Louis XVI Period Jardinière Music Box

A rare rectangular planter music box in solid mahogany clad with white marble plaques. It stands on four square bronze asparagus-inlaid fluted legs adorned with bronze rings at the bottom and foliage draperies at the top. A removable zinc tray is inserted inside. Very rich ornamentation of very finely chased and mercury-gilded bronzes, such as post and gadroon friezes, musical instruments, flowers and foliage, asparagus inlaid gallery and quatrefoil trellis.
