Rare Moulins earthenware plate with a scalloped rim, decorated in polychrome with two Chinese figures on a bridge spanning two riverbanks. One of the Chinese figures is standing under a parasol, the other is seated, surrounded by flowering shrubs, birds, and butterflies.
Eighteenth century - circa 1750
Diameter: 25 cm.
Excellent condition, with a small firing chip on the rim (see photos).
A plate with a similar design is held at the Anne-de-Beaujeu Museum in Moulins and is reproduced in the exhibition catalog "La faïence de Moulins" (Moulins Earthenware), page 116.
