This exceptional 19th-century chest is crafted from solid walnut and richly hand-carved throughout. The front and side panels are deeply sculpted with classical motifs, including Roman chariots, helmeted profiles, mascarons, and putti, executed with remarkable technical skill and attention to detail. Freestanding, fully carved figures on consoles flank the sides, enhancing the architectural structure of the piece and emphasizing its sculptural presence. The central panel is distinguished by an imposing wrought-iron lock plate retaining traces of red velvet backing. The chest rests on a moulded plinth and remains in an authentic, unrestored condition, displaying a warm and well-preserved patina. A powerful decorative and historical object, clearly reflecting the Italian Neoclassical style of the 19th century.
