Impressive mechanical secrétaire, stamped Pierre Roussel, received Master in 1745, Transition period.
Accompanied by its certificate of authenticity, which will be given to the buyer.
The piece features a doucine-shaped upper section and is veneered with various precious woods.
The lower part opens with two doors in violetwood veneer, decorated with a geometric frieze in boxwood and satinwood stringing.
The lower rail is scalloped.
The front corners are chamfered, rounded at their ends, and terminate in cabriole legs adorned with leafy gilt-bronze sabots.
A large fall-front, curved at the top, surmounts the two doors and repeats the same marquetry theme.
When opened, it reveals the writing compartment consisting of a central secret niche, small drawers on each side, and superimposed pigeonholes.
A large “secret” drawer in the upper section opens by pressing hidden spring mechanisms concealed in the side uprights.
The sides are also decorated with geometric marquetry motifs.
A small lateral drawer in the upper left section locks with a key.
The piece is topped with a Languedoc red marble with bec de corbin molding.
