Cordoba leather screen with 6 leaves, decorated with rocailles, foliage, interlacing and polychrome flowers.
Spanish work from the 18th century.
Good general condition.
Height: 210 cm.
Width of each leaf: 36.5 cm.
Invented in the 14th century, Cordoba leather was used to line the walls of living rooms or offices, seats, to cover chests or even, as here, screens.
Made from sheepskin, the leathers were very often gilded and polychrome and have a raised embossing appearance.
Note here the connections between the different skins, sewn together before the decoration was applied.
