Painter: Charles-Eloi Asselin, active 1765–1804, painter of figures and ornamental motifs.
This exceptional Sèvres cup and saucer depict a bucolic young girl seated outdoors, gently interacting with a pair of doves. The saucer features a symbolic scene of a dove being released from a cage, conveying themes of freedom, nature, and harmony. Executed in the neoclassical style, the set is richly enhanced with ornate gilded borders.
Good overall condition. One small area of regilding to the saucer (see last image).
