“Orpheus charming the animals”, bisque pendulum clock by Dupas à Paris
Spectacular refined pendulum clock in white bisque depicting Orpheus charming the animals to the sound if his lyra. A sheep on the left, a child with an apple on the right. Some parts are in gilt bronze. Silk string movement. Enamel dial signed Dupas à Paris, clockmaker active in rue Froidemanteau in 1791 and the Saint-Martin neighborhood until 1817. The High quality of the unglazed porcelain comes most probably from a notorious manufactory such as “la manufacture du Duc d ’Angoulême”.
