Gold & enamel cruciform pendant. German, second half of the 16th century.

A fine gold & enamel cruciform pendant. The applied body of Christ hangs from the crucifix surmounting Golgotha, the bones of Adam at his feet & the loop an entwined snake; a reference to the original sin. A piece of decoration to the reverse is now absent.
