At its beginnings, still under the influence of Oeben, Leleu's furniture is grand and sumptuous, but little by little, it acquires more sobriety. His works, then very personal, are very simple, with perfect proportions and the finish of the execution as the choice of materials are remarkable. The architecture and the play of the learned skeletons prime, see entirely replaces, the decoration of the gilded bronzes.
Leleu had a qualitative production of furniture under Louis XVI, neoclassical, "Greek style", with robust forms, very architectural.
