Ferdinand DUVINAGE (1813-1874) and Maison Alphonse GIROUX Inkstand in gilded metal inlaid with ivory plates, precious wood and gilt metal in a decor of branches and bells of chestnut. The inkwell consists of an urn flanked by two heads of goat on a pedestal, decorated with a ciphered medallion. The set rests on its tray surrounded by a frieze of water leaves and rests on four feet formed of goat's feet. Monogrammed "FD Bte" on the ivory of the lid and engraved: "House: Giroux Paris" under cover. Ferdinand DUVINAGE deposited a patent of invention (hence "bte" on the lid) of mosaic combined with metallic partitioning. Very good
