La Fille Au Lampion By Léo Laporte-Blairsy (1865-1923)

La fille au lampion, decorative bronze and glass lamp by Léo Laporte-Blairsy, signed on the base and bears a cartel from fondeur Houdebine, Paris.

Léo Laporte-Blairsy was a French sculptor and medalist trained by Antonin Mercié and Alexandre Falguière. His works are fully in line with the art nouveau movement, blending poetry, delicate forms, mystery and female figures. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français and received several awards, including a silver medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle.

La jeune fille au lampion, also known as Lucy, is a sculpture of a young girl holding a decorative lantern, often made in collaboration with Daum, which lights up. The boundary between work of art and utilitarian object is blurred, in keeping with the idea of total art so dear to the period. The delicate play of light creates a soft, dreamy atmosphere, characteristic of the artist.
