At the end of the 19th century, Antoine Durenne's foundry developed a process for ennobling cast iron using a copper coating applied by electrolysis. This technique was extremely rare for Durenne. The statues represent vestals with elegant movements who, originally, still held vases or drums and triangles in their hands. The drawing is by Étienne Henri Dumaige (1830-1888). On the base, they bear the plaque: "A. Durenne, Master of Forger, Sommevoire, Hte Savonne". The statues have a magnificent natural patina and have been preserved accordingly during the recent restoration.
