Pair of Large and Low Walnut Armchairs, French Regence Period circa 1720
MLD Antiquités Collection: This beautiful French Regence period pair of armchairs is not displayed in our gallery; it is carefully keepted within our private collection.
Description:
A superb and rare pair of large fireside armchairs, characterized by their tall, flat, and dynamic backs as well as their wide walnut seats. These armchairs are distinguished by their sinuous, recessed armrests finely sculpted with acanthus leaves, and they rest on four cabriole legs, also adorned with acanthus leaf carvings.
The exceptional quality of these armchairs and their overall design attest to typical Parisian craftsmanship of the French Regence Period.
This elegant work, likely Parisian and dated circa 1720, perfectly illustrates the French craftsmanship of that period.
