Large Gilt Bronze with Cut Crystal Chandelier by Baccarat

Large Louis XV Style Chandelier Signed by Baccarat in Gilt Bronze with Cut Crystal Decor circa 1880

Baccarat chandeliers embody elegance and luxury, combining exceptional quality with timeless design.

An elegant and significant cage-shaped chandelier, made of bronze with finely chiseled foliage decoration in its beautiful original gilding, it illuminates with twenty light arms on two levels on the periphery.

Our chandelier stands out for its elegant and refined decor of high-quality white cut crystal, composed of numerous significant plaques. Four large daggers of cut crystal adorn its periphery, while at its center, an incredible threading of cut crystal, including a magnificent diamond-point ball, draws the eye. The chandelier culminates in a superb crystal ball.

A splendid French Louis XV style chandelier featuring an incredible crystal decor signed by the Baccarat Crystal Works.

Dimensions:
Height: 55.1 inches
Diameter: 39.4 inches

Its substantial diameter (39.4 inches) allows it to be advantageously placed in spaces without great ceiling height.

About Baccarat:
In 1764, King Louis XV authorized Louis-Joseph de Montmorency-Laval, Bishop of Metz, to establish a glassworks in the village of Baccarat in Lorraine.

In 1824, Ismaël Robinet, a glassworker at Baccarat, invented a piston air pump that facilitated glassblowing. The following year, Baccarat developed the pressed-molded technique.

At the 1855 Paris Universal Exhibition, Baccarat notably presented two candelabras and a chandelier of monumental dimensions.
On October 29, 1860, Baccarat registered its trademark at the Paris Commercial Court: a carafe, a goblet, and a glass inscribed in a circle. Initially printed on a paper label, this stamp was later directly engraved on the pieces.

Baccarat crystal, of excellent quality, contains at least 31.7% lead and is distinguished by its lack of defects, reflecting a high level of demand. The Baccarat Crystal Works spans generations while remaining a symbol of French art de vivre.
