This pair of planters with oriental decorations demonstrates the constant fascination of the Western world since the 17th century with the Orient, a land unknown to most and therefore, in essence, fantasized about. This can be seen here in the Asian features of the characters, the rich clothing and the vegetation: everything is reminiscent of an unknown world and an invitation to travel.
