18th Century Sicilian Bedside Table

Sicilian bedside table measuring 75 x 63 x 33 cm in walnut with marquetry inlay from the second half of the 18th century.

This bedside table, made of ribbed walnut, has a dynamic and lively shape thanks to the central and especially lateral movement of its legs. We are analysing a piece of furniture from the great Sicilian tradition known for its expertise and meticulousness in detail; as mentioned above, the moved front is composed of two drawers, divided by cross-pieces and with meticulous workmanship that enhances the shape, while the movement of the sides is further enhanced by the move from the herringbone work.

The end result, including marble in the upper part, gives the idea of a lively and cheerful piece of furniture capable of bestowing elegance and sobriety in the context in which it stands.
