The intaglio is Italian and dates to the 17th century.
The later ring is made of high carat gold, tested as 18 carat.
The intaglio measures 2.4 x 2cm.

The intaglio depicts a sacrifice at an alter with an erect figure standing atop a column beside a woman and flanked by two Satyrs.
The intaglio has a hairline crack on the left hand side.
