Silver pendant with a coral memento mori cameo

A silver pendant set with a double sided coral memento mori cameo.

Italian, late 17th century.

Measures 4.8 x 1.8 x 1.2cm.

The coral cameo is carved to one side with a youthful putto carrying a lit candle, representing the fleetingly fragile nature of life. The other side is carved with an image of death bearing his scythe the earth at his feet.
