Gold stick pin with an agate sculpture of a female bust. Italian, 17th cent

A gold stick pin surmounted by a carved agate sculpture of a cloaked female bust.

The bust is Italian, late 17th century, the ornate high carat gold stick pin is probably English, mid 19th century.

Measures 9.5cm high, the bust measures 2.3 x 1.6 x 1.2cm.

The female bust is portrayed wearing a hooded cloak with exposed breasts. The bust is finely sculpted to accentuate the colours within the specimen of banded agate. This micro-sculpture is set with elegant high carat gold mounts decorated with floral scrollwork.

The nose has historic damage.
