Triptych carved in mid-relief, southern France, late 15th and early 16th century

Carved half-relief in oak wood, gilded and polychromed, with three registers, simulating a tryptic.
In the center, Christ on the Cross with Saint John and the Virgin Mary at his feet. On the right, a Saint (probably Saint Papoul, martyr of the 3rd century, wearing his cap, symbol of his martyrdom. Disciple of Saint Sernin, he was one of the evangelizers of Gaul from the apostolic age). On the left, a Saint bishop not yet defined, wearing a religious building of which he was undoubtedly a sponsor.
The two panels framing the Crucifixion in architectural gables; the three representations surmounting poly-lobed motifs.
The whole has been lined with a wooden panel probably to reinforce (50x41)
